Located in Labrador, the Muskrat River hydropower plant part of the Lower Churchill project will produce 824 megawatts for supplying the province of Newfoundland and Labrador for more than 100 years.
This project represent 28 000 tons of reinforcing steel for AGF Steel, a Canadian leader in the design, manufacture and installation of reinforcing and post-tensioning steel. AGF Steel is therefore currently seeking an enthusiastic Detailer.
Job Duties and Responsibilities:
Under the authority of the Construction Manager, the Detailer, Project Coordinator is responsible of producing, from plans and specifications, the drawings for the placing of the reinforcing steel. He acts also as coordinator between production, delivery, installation on site and the General Contractor for all projects under his responsibility.
- Write technical specifications for projects based on customer needs, plans and bid documents;
- Communicate with the Contractor to identify specific customer needs. Refer to the manager if there are any changes resulting in additional costs;
- Produce, using a software computer-aided design (CAD), shop drawings according to plans;
- Prepare the bar lists to be used for the manufacturing of reinforcing steel according to length, diameter and bending requirements, taking into account the nature of the steel;
- Provide to the Plant Manager the bar lists to start the manufacturing process and ensure deadlines are met;
- Plan the onsite shipping of steel;
- Remain in constant communication with the General Contractor and the jobsite Foremen and attend the coordination meetings;
- Manage changes, additions and make the necessary modifications as directed by the jobsite superintendant;
- And all other related tasks.
Requirements:
- Degree or diploma in technical engineering, architecture or building design;
- Proficient in design and drafting using RebarCAD or MicroStation;
- Knowledge of software aSa (an asset);
- Ability to visualize and imagine geometric shapes and objects in 3D space (an asset);
- Attention to detail and accuracy;
- Good management of priorities and respect of deadlines;
- Good interpersonal communication;
- Strong planning and problem solving skills;
- Rigour, autonomy and efficiency;
- Ability to work in team;
- Patience and good ability to manage stress.
Contractual conditions:
- Flight in and out, rotation of 2 weeks working on site and 1 week of rest including the transportation
- Camp conditions (WiFi, TV + Gym) with food and local transportation
- Working day of 10 hours minimum with hourly rate
- Contract of 1 year minimum
- Construction site close for 2 to 3 weeks during Holidays
- 2 weeks of vacation
